Catechetical Commission
The commission is made up of catechists who are presently teaching catechism lessons in the parish. They discuss and plan the yearly program for the children and adolescents attending the lessons and at the same time contribute to their initiation in the life of the parish. The commission has an inservice renewal course every year on topics related to their own spiritual formation and also on the method and content of catechesis. Catechetical teaching is done on the syllabus and textbooks prepared by the Diocesan Secretariat for Catechesis along with additions and adaptations according to the requirements of the Liturgical Year or any particular year as declared by the Pope, or by the Archbishop.
Children are prepared for two sacraments: First Holy Communion and Confirmation. Catechism classes are held in two centres; the Parish Centre and the Sacred Heart School.
Twice a month, a Mass with children’s participation is organized, while on the other Sundays, children are grouped together and a special initiation into the liturgy is organized.
